Srinagar, Apr 12 (KNO): Education Minister Sakina Itoo has expressed grief over the Handwara accident which left two students dead and 22 others wounded. Itoo, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), visited the bereaved families and expressed solidarity with them. Sje also visited Government Medical College (GMC) Handwara and enquired about the welfare of the injured students. “Action will be taken under the law if any negligence is established. Words are not enough to express grief,” she told reporters. "It is an extremely unfortunate incident. The government stands by the victims and their families and will ensure all possible help", she said. The Minister, while consoling the grieving families, said that a magisterial inquiry has been ordered into the circumstances that led to the fatal accident. “Whosoever is found guilty of negligence will be dealt with as per the law,” she said. In response to media questions regarding the alleged expiry of the bus’s fitness certificate, she replied, “Yes, it’s unfortunate, but let the inquiry get completed. Don't jump to conclusions. Once the report is submitted, appropriate action will follow if any lapses or negligence are established.”—(KNO)
